Stories and highlights

Quinton represented our school and the Sydney West region at the NSW PSSA Primary Boys Rugby State Championships, held in Mudgee. Quinton performed exceptionally well throughout the championships and represented our school and region with outstanding behaviour, sportsmanship and commitment. At the conclusion of the championships, Sydney West finished in 4th place out of 13 teams and regions from across the state.

Well done, Quinton! We are incredibly proud of your achievement and wish you all the best in your future rugby endeavours.

Stage 2 attended Longneck Lagoon for an exciting field study excursion! They had a fantastic time exploring the bushland and getting hands-on with nature.

Students scooped bugs from the lagoon, sketched the surrounding trees and lagoon, and explored a range of Indigenous items, learning more about the natural environment and First Nations culture.

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, asking questions and enjoying the opportunity to explore the bushland.

Our annual Book Parade was held on the 24th August as with this year’s theme, 'Symphony of Stories.'

Our students looked absolutely amazing in their creative and colourful costumes, bringing some of their favourite stories and characters to life. There were so many wonderful characters!

Our Year 6 Leadership team were invited to attend Sydney Zoo to take part in their Science Week activities. They explored the discovery trail around the zoo, enjoyed the hands on activities at the Innovation Hub and even completed a workshop with zoo microbiologists. What an educational and fun day! Our English as an Additional Language or Dialect students rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty in a fabulous Bunnings garden workshop! Working in teams, they prepped the soil and carefully chose plants to bring their garden beds to life. Experiences like these not only help our students grow their green thumbs but also develop their English language skills through teamwork and hands-on learning.

Our choir attended this years Limelight Concert in Penrith. The students sang beautifully and showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout the rehearsals and concert. We are so proud to see our students sharing their talents on such a wonderful stage!

Our Kindergarten students celebrated 100 days of school! To mark this exciting milestone, our students came dressed as 100-year-olds, and they certainly embraced their characters—walking with sticks, holding their backs, and giving us plenty of laughs along the way! Congratulations to our amazing Kindergarten students on reaching 100 days of learning, growing, and making wonderful memories. We are so proud of everything they have achieved so far and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings!

7 of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from our Bunburra (Little Lizard) group visited Doonside Technology High School to create a special artwork for our school community. Using our school colours, students painted a beautiful “Meeting Place” artwork. The artwork represents the students and teachers of Eastern Creek coming together in one place to learn, connect and grow.

The lizards featured throughout the artwork symbolise all of our Bunburra students and the important role they play within our school community. We are so proud of the creativity, teamwork and cultural pride our students showed throughout this wonderful experience.

Our school came together to hold our ANZAC Day service-a deeply moving and meaningful occasion.

We honoured the courage, service, and sacrifice of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions, past and present. Through powerful and captivating stories shared by both veterans and current service members, we were reminded of the resilience, mateship, and spirit that define them.

It was a moment to reflect, to remember, and to express our gratitude for those who have given so much in the name of service.
